A lot of people complain about their bosses not understanding and respecting their boundaries. A man shared on Reddit how his boss wanted him to cover for someone on his day off just because he is single.

The Reddit user shared a screenshot of a conversation he had with his boss, who wanted him to work the 7 am shift and asked him to come at 6.15 am for preparation. When the man asked him if he had asked someone named Bryan, he was told by his boss that since Bryan was married with a kid, he could not ask him to come at such short notice.

“You’re single, why can’t you come in?” his boss asked him. The man replied that it was his only day off in the week and that he had plans. Even after telling his boss that he was helping a friend move into a new house, his boss was persistent. “You know I’m a hard worker and I’m loyal, but I would ask for some respect as well,” he wrote to his boss.

“So this just happened and I’m almost numb atm (at the moment). I hope I don’t regret this tomorrow as I do enjoy my job, but management is rough,” the Reddit user Feggy_JVS posted.

The Reddit post left netizens enraged. “Never elaborate why you can’t come in on an off day. Simply reply that it’s a personal matter,” commented a user. “It was unbelievably far over the line. Especially at 10 pm the night before,” said another. “There should be a platform where workers can expose employers like this. Prospective employees can then see what they are truly getting themselves into,” a third user wrote.
